How can I remove sand from the magnetic ends of my sons toy trains? - wood toy train

My son had established his magnetic toys wood and put them in the sandbox. Now, the magnets are covered with sand, and not acceding to a chain of more. I pushed both the sand I can, but there's nothing I can do to get the sand. Thank you for your help.
